Magna International

DIY Reusable Face Mask Covers

Looking for a way to help in the fight against COVID-19?  If you have sewing capabilities, Magna’s seating team has developed instructional guides for you to follow on how to sew reusable, breathable cotton mask covers both with and without a pocket for a filter to help with the mask shortages in essential services.

Led by Frank Eupizi, Group Director Engineering, and trim product engineers, Ashley Harris and Jessie Moyer in Novi, Michigan, these masks could potentially help with N95 mask reuse and support personnel working in essential services like restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, truck drivers and more. These mask covers can be washed and reused.  They will fit as a cover for the N95 mask or can be used alone if a filter is provided by the user if N95 masks are not required or available.

You'll need a sewing machine, fabric, and other materials outlined in the instructional guides and video shown below. Please note that most fabric stores remain open as essential services.  Once your masks are complete, Google locations in your area to make a drop off.
